Mission

The Austin Paddling Club (APC) is a non-profit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status that is dedicated to the promotion of canoe, kayak, inflatable, and other human-powered paddlesport as lifetime activities through education, recreation, competition, and conservation.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are unable to influence bills, resolutions, or similar items that are acted upon by Congress, the state legislature, or any local council. We cannot contact, or urge the public to contact, members or employees of a legislative body for the purpose of proposing, supporting, or opposing legislation. We also cannot advocate the adoption or rejection of legislation. What we can do, however, is conduct educational meetings, and prepare and distribute educational materials.

Thus, we promote paddlesport through participation in the following events:

• monthly roll, rescue, and technique sessions at a local swimming pool
• canoe, kayak, and river safety courses and clinics
• kayak polo youth programs
• periodic lake, river, and coastal trips
• various kayak and canoe polo, slalom, and racing competitions
• lake and river cleanups with the Keep Austin Beautiful Adopt-a-Shore program and the Texas Rivers Protection Association (TRPA)
